ISIS released from Al-Hol camp
With the recent war in Syria, prisons holding thousands of ISIS fighters were taken over by the HTS regime. While the US-Army relocated 5700 of them to Iraq, a lot of them are now under the control of the HTS. According to the ceasefire agreement the Al-Hol camp is to be handed over to the Asayîsh forces again. Now videos on the internet show, how lots of detainees are leaving the prison without beeing stopped. It is obvious that the area is not handed over to the Asayîsh yet because HTS is releasing the ISIS fighters and their families.
Munich Security Conference
This weekend the Munich Security Conference is taking place in Germany. While it is especially discussed how Europe can be stronger integrated in the US hegemony, also Mazlum Abdi (SDF) and Ilham Ahmed (DAANES) are joining. Concerning Rojava/Syria, especially a meeting with the US secretary of state Marco Rubio and Syrian Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani took place. Mazlum Abdi said it is the goal to solve the problems the ceasefire agreement brought. Another declaration will be given after the conference.
Protest against violence
In the town Jaramana in the countryside of Damascus a bombing was carried out, injuring at least 6 people but so far there are no death casualties. To react to the general atmospere of violence in Syria the people are protesting. A demonstration took place in Al-Salamiyah near Hama as well as the Druze people were demonstrating in Suweida, calling for humanitarian corridors and self-determination.
Self-defense
Also in Rojava the people are reacting against the threat the HTS regime is posing by continuing to strengthen the societal self denfense. In Dêrik basic weapon training were organized for dozens of young women and men.
Parliamentary efforts
Different parlamentarian groups in Spain push for the government to take measures. First of all, they aim for the recognition of the self-administration (DAANES) by the Spanish state. Also the European Parliament passed a resolution comdemning the violence against civilians in Nort East Syria and giving support to the ceasefire agreement.
