06.02.2026, 16:00 CET UPDATE – Syrian Regime Not Taking Steps
Syrian regime not taking steps
Despite meetings between the self-administration and Syrian regime the siege on Kobanê continues. Although the street connecting the city with the canton Cizîre where the other cities of the self-administration are placed should have been opened on the 2nd February, the Syrian regime does not take positive steps. Meanwhile the humanitarian situation gets worse every day.
Actions for Rojava
To respond to the situation and demonstrate that we are still ready to defend the revolution and will not stand still, actions have been announced for the weekend and demonstrations are being organized in many cities.
Attacks on Suweida
In the region of Suweida in the South of Syria the HTS regime is also attacking the Druze people throughout the last days and today also used heavy weapons. In response to last year massacres on the Druze people, an army was built that brought all armed factions together in the protection of Suweida. Inspired by the SDF and YPJ, also a women’s army was found in 2025. While attacks are continuing, the Druze people are now able to answer them.
Diplomacy meetings
Meetings between the military and political leadership of Rojava, the French foreign minister and KDP leader Barzani took place in Erbil, South Kurdistan. While the results are positive and especially the role of the YPJ has been discussed with the French foreign minister, the danger remains that it stays at verbal committments that will not be put in practice. Especially the nationalist Kurdish leader Barzani tries to make use of the current negotiations to strengthen Kurdish nationalism. Clearly, he is not working for the revolution. The Syrian party connected to him, ENKS, went to negotiate in Damascus without informing the leading negotiation parties of the ceasefire.
