German Newspaper attacks women’s values
The Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe gave a declaration about the German newspaper “Der Spiegel”. In its reports about the current war on Rojava it is degrading women fighter, mirroring the perspective of the jihadists. “Instead of denouncing the systematical murders, kidnappings, rapings and torture through the jihadist militias, “Der Spiegel” is using a language that is exonerating the perpetrators and criminalizing the victims”, the declaration states. It is not just this newspaper, it is part of a wider media strategy, aiming at delegitimizing the women’s struggle.
Turkish military besieges Kobanê
The Turkish state is militarizing the zone around Kobanê. On the other side of the Turkish border in the North of Kobanê, big trenches are being dug. Since the beginning of the siege also tanks have been deployed along the border. Now also 5 military bases between Kobanê and Pirsûs (Suruç) have been built. In the time of the offensive marches tried to reach Kobanê from Pirsûs (North Kurdistan). With the construction the Turkish military also prepares for a new war scenario, in which they want to block all people trying to get into Kobanê to support.
Shengal and Rojava side by side
At the same time in Shengal, South Kurdistan, the people prepared humanitarian support for Rojava and started to send it in Trucks. Shengal is following the same political model as Rojava and stood united with Rojava in the fight against ISIS before.
Capitalist sell-out in Syria
In the Syrian city Homs 61 workers from the electricity company of the city were fired. Especially in the last weeks the Syrian regime fired workers in all industries and put jihadist rules on workers, like prohibiting make-up. The Syrian regime is not just oppressing other ethnicities and religions, it also aims to push the capitalization of Syria and sells the country to foreign powers.
Youth killed in Suweida
The low intensity warfare of the Syrian regime on Suweida is continuing. Today, through the attacks at least one youth was killed by the jihadist gangs in the region in the South of Syria.
