“On 8 November 2018, in Dyarbakir prison, Leyla Güven, a Kurdish parliamentarian of the HDP, began a new wave of resistance by the Kurdish people, with a hunger strike demanding compliance with legal rights for Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the Kurdish movement , imprisoned since 1999 in the high security prison of Imrali (Turkey) in isolation. After Leyla, thousands of Kurds joined the action against the Turkish regime, demanding an end to human rights violations in Turkish prisons and ending the isolation of leader Abdullah Öcalan. To date, more than 7,000 people are on hunger strike in Turkish prisons and in various parts of Europe.
Erdogan’s genocidal and colonialist policies are aimed at the genocide of the Kurdish people and the revolution carried out in the territories of Bakurê and Rojava, and to a lesser extent in Başûr and Rojhilate. The social revolution proposed by the Kurdish people illuminates the way to the end of capitalist modernity, proposing the bases of a new confederal system that could be an important step towards overcoming capitalism.
As in Afrin, and in other events, Western nation-states and international institutions remain silent. The European Union, the European Parliament and the Committee against Torture allow human rights violations against thousands of prisoners and prisoners protesting against the regime of isolation, torture and silencing of the Kurdish people. For the circle to be complete, the media has kept silence and concealed the heroic struggle of all people on hunger strike.
In Portugal financial cooperation with the Turkish regime reached high record, after the privatization of several ports to the Turkish company Yilport, the granting of gold visas led to the fact that in 2018 Turkish investments in Portugal increased more than 130%. We condemn the financial cooperation that leads the Portuguese State to be cooperative and complacent with the attempted slaughter and to maintain silence in the face of all democratic abuses by the Erdogan regime.
We condemn the European Union which, as a result of the financial agreements with the Turkish regime, has fortified and militarized its borders, intensifying the degree of repression within fortress Europe. In Turkey many of the refugees live in conditions of slavery, isolation and forced to be part of a war that massacres them. Western passivism has led to thousands of people dying trying to flee the Turkish borders and the clutches of Sultan Erdogan.
A group of people in solidarity with the heroic struggle of this people left today, May 25, on the streets of Porto, Lisbon, Sintra, Caldas da Rainha, Leiria and Coimbra to call attention to the silencing that the International Community and the Media are perpetuating, once again allowing the regime of a single man massacre the honorouble struggle of the Kurdish people. We will not continue in silence, and we will continue to denounce the crimes against humanity that the Turkish regime is committing in Rojava, in Bakur and in all Turkish prisons.
We call on all people who identify with the struggle of this people to organize themselves and carry out actions of protest against the Turkish regime.
Whether in the streets, embassies or in solidarity, our voice can not be silenced!

A 8 de Novembro de 2018, na prisão de Dyarbakir, Leyla Güven, parlamentar curda do HDP,
iniciou uma nova jornada de resistência do povo curdo, com uma greve de fome que exige o
cumprimento dos direitos legais para Abdullah Öcalan, líder do movimento curdo, preso desde
1999 na prisão de alta segurança de Imrali (Turquia) em regime de isolamento. Depois de Leyla,
milhares de curdas e curdos juntaram-se à acção de luta contra o regime turco, exigindo o fim
da violação de direitos humanos nas prisões turcas e o fim do isolamento do líder Abdullah
Öcalan. Ao dia de hoje, mais de 7000 pessoas encontram-se em greve de fome nas prisões turcas
e em diversos pontos da Europa.
As políticas genocidas e colonialistas de Erdogan, têm como fim o genocídio do povo curdo e da
revolução levada a cabo nos territórios de Bakurê e Rojava, e em menor escala também em
Başûr e Rojhilatê. A revolução social proposta pelo povo curdo, ilumina o caminho para o fim da
modernidade capitalista, propondo as bases de um novo sistema confederal que poderá ser um
passo importante, para a superação do capitalismo.
Como em Afrin, e em outros eventos, os Estados-Nação ocidentais e as instituições
internacionais mantêm o silêncio. A União Europeia, o Parlamento Europeu e o Comité contra a
Tortura, permitem que sejam violados direitos humanos de milhares de prisioneiras e
prisioneiros que protestam contra o regime de isolamento, as torturas e o silenciamento do
povo curdo. Para o círculo estar completo, a comunicação social tem mantido o silêncio e
ocultado a heróica luta de todas as pessoas em greve de fome.
Em Portugal a cooperação financeira com o regime turco atingiu recordes históricos, depois da
privatização de vários portos à companhia turca Yilport, a concessão de vistos gold levou a que,
em 2018, os investimentos turcos em Portugal tenham aumentado mais de 130%. Condenamos
a cooperação financeira que leva a que o Estado Português seja cooperante e complacente com
a tentativa de chacina e mantenha o silêncio perante todos os atropelos democráticos pelo
regime de Erdogan.
Um grupo de pessoas solidárias com a luta heróica deste povo, saiu hoje, dia 25 de Maio, às ruas
para chamar a atenção para o silenciamento que a Comunidade Internacional e a Comunicação
Social estão a perpetuar, permitindo, uma vez mais, que o regime de um homem só massacre a
justa luta do povo curdo. Nós não vamos continuar em silêncio, e vamos continuar a denunciar
os crimes contra a humanidade que o regime turco está a cometer em Rojava, em Bakur e em
todas as prisões turcas.Apelamos a que todas as pessoas que se identifiquem com a luta deste povo, se auto-organizem
e realizem acções de protesto contra o regime turco.
Seja nas ruas, nas embaixadas ou emconcentrações de solidariedade, a nossa voz não pode ser silenciada!
